Home Network

FPP and its controllers sit on your existing home network, alongside your computers, phones and router — no separate hardware or extra configuration beyond the Network page itself.

• Easiest layout to reach for configuration, software updates, and using xLights' FPP Connect to upload shows.
• Good for testing a display before it moves to its final location, since every device is already reachable from your computer.
• Show traffic (E1.31/ArtNet/DDP, MultiSync) shares bandwidth with everything else on the home network — usually not a problem for small‑to‑medium displays, but worth watching if the network is busy or the display is large.
• Give each show controller a static address (or a reservation in your router), so it does not change and break saved configuration — see Networking → Overview.

Tip

Many builders start here — it is the fastest way to get a display running, and a fine permanent choice for a small or wired setup — and move to a Separate Network only once the show network's traffic or size calls for it.
